Ross Haggart, BSc
Ross Haggart is a scientific officer within the TMRC Genomics group. Having graduated from Heriot-Watt University with a BSc Hons. in Biochemistry, Ross started his scientific career by joining the High Throughput Genotyping team at GlaxoSmithKline in 2001 where he was intimately involved in setting up a LIMS system but also validating processes and robotics. He also worked with single plex FRET chemistries such as TaqMan and Amplifluor. The majority of Ross’ work was based on disease association studies, linkage refinement, or gene scans to develop IP |

Laura Kennedy, PhD
Laura Kennedy is the Post Doctoral worker within the TMRC Genomics group. Following an honours degree in Neuroscience at The University of Edinburgh (1998), Laura gained her Ph.D at The University of Glasgow working on molecular and cellular mechanisms of pathogenesis in Huntington’s disease. Laura’s early post-doctoral career, in the Faculty of Life Sciences at The University of Manchester, saw her working on the integrative physiology of healthy and diseased neurones. Prior to joining TMRC, Laura worked at The University of Edinburgh focussing on the influence of genetic (APOE and APP) and environmental (head injury) risk factors in the development AD pathogenesis by using neuroimaging techniques to assess changes in regional cerebral energy metabolism. |

Lucky Pandey, MSc, BSc
Lucky Pandey is a Research Technician in the TMRC Genomics group, having joined TMRC in August 2008. Prior to joining TMRC, she was at CRUK Nucleic Acid Structure Research Group, University of Dundee. She graduated in biotechnology (2005) followed by masters in toxicology (2007) from Hamdard University in India. Her practical lab work has encompassed immunology, oncology, animal cell culture, plant and environmental biology. |

Stephen McGuiness, BSc
Stephen McGuiness is a scientific Officer in the TMRC Genomics group. He graduated from the University of Paisley with a BSc honours in Biology in 1993. Prior to joining the TMRC his work encompassed the role of ES-62, a novel parasite-derived immunomodulatory molecule, and its therapeutic potential in inflammatory diseases, including the development towards possible drug discovery. His experience also included cellular and molecular neuroscience studies. |

Ruth Stephen, PhD, MBE
Ruth Stephen joined the TMRC Genomics group in November 2008. She was awarded her PhD from the University of Reading having pursued a programme of research centred around the role of retinoic acid in human breast cancer cells. She continued her interest in nuclear receptors and cancer as a research fellow in University of Cincinnati & Georgetown University, followed by an ICRF translational research fellowship in the CRUK Molecular Pharmacology Unit, Dundee, studying the role of PPARs in cancer. Subsequently, she investigated the role of specific ADAMs in breast cancer (University of Cambridge). Her interest in innovation in science led her to take a 1 year sabbatical to pursue a Master’s degree in Bioscience Enterprise (MBE) from the University of Cambridge which she completed recently. |

Kathryn Walsh, MSc, BSc
Kathy Walsh is a scientific Officer in the TMRC Genomics group. Kathy gained a degree in Genetics the University of Newcastle-Upon-Tyne in 1995, and a masters degree in Biochemical Engineering at University College London. Prior to joining the TMRC, Kathy worked as a researcher within the Central Science Laboratory in York, responsible for developing molecular biology assays and conducting research into plant pathogens and pests.
